The Morning Routine: Step By Step
Let’s break it down. This isn’t a drill-sergeant schedule; it’s a flexible guide designed to fit into real life.

1. Unload the Dishwasher
If you're like me, you may have a favorite spatula. And when I'm ready to flip some grilled cheeses and I realize that spatula is dirty, I may get irritated. Let's just say, that starting the day with all clean dishes prevents more "irritations". And after a meal, we all know how great it feels to just pop the dishes right in the dishwasher instead of creating a Mount Everest of plates in the sink.
Have a Peaceful Breakfast
Yes, “peaceful” and “breakfast” in the same sentence might sound like a joke, but hear me out. This is your chance to fuel up before the chaos hits. Take some breaths, and feed your body and soul. Start your day with sustenance and scripture.

Get Dressed
Pajamas are comfy, but getting dressed (even in leggings and a hoodie) does wonders for your mindset. Pajamas say, "I'm ready for laying around." When you’re dressed, you’re ready to do the dang thang. Plus, there’s always that one delivery driver who shows up at 9 a.m. I always feel better when I have a bra on for that interaction.

Make the Bed
This simple task has magical powers. A made bed makes your whole room look tidier. I literally let out a satisfied sigh every time I look at my freshly made bed and nicely arranged pillows. Plus, nothing beats climbing into a neatly made bed at the end of a long day.

Put a Load in the Washing Machine
Laundry can get out of control real fast. The trick? Chip away at it daily. Start a load in the morning so you can move it to the dryer later. That way, you’re not drowning in piles by Friday.
Cautionary Tale: Don’t forget about it! There’s nothing worse than re-washing a load because it’s been sitting wet for two days. Set a timer or ask Alexa to remind you.

A morning routine won’t magically solve all your problems, but it can make your days feel a little smoother and your load a little lighter. It’s about finding joy in small tasks, carving out moments of calm, and reminding yourself that you’re doing an incredible job. So, tomorrow morning, when the alarm goes off (or your child’s cries replace it), take a deep breath, grab that coffee, and start your routine. It’s not just a series of tasks; it’s an act of love—for your family and for yourself.
Moments of Calm
Save for later
